Olive Oil, Dark Greens Part of a Healthy Ant Breast Cancer Diet

While everyone knows that eating a lot of dark, leafy greens in the diet is essential to good health, we also have heard a lot of whispers – well, lately – more like shouts – about the health benefits of pure, organic olive oil. Why is olive oil so healthy for you when it is so high in calories? And should you include such a high calorie food in your diet simply for the sake of increasing your health and reducing the risk of breast cancer?

The answer is yes. In fact, some experts recommend adding up to two tablespoons of olive oil (unheated) per day. That’s an extra 250 calories, roughly, so of course you do have to watch your other caloric intake, but the good news is that olive oil is actually an excellent appetite suppressant. Actually, any food rich in monosaturated fats, or omega 3 fats, is an excellent natural appetite suppressant because it makes you feel fuller, more satiated, for a longer time by tricking your brain into feeling full for much longer.

Fat in itself  is a great satiation tool, but omega 3 fats are even better, because once inside your body, they are stable, and act as an antioxidant, whereas other types of fats can themselves become free radicals once inside the body, which can contribute to getting cancer.

Dark leafy greens and olive oil is a winning combination against breast cancer though. One of my absolute favorite salads to eat which is a great “anti cancer” salad and great for your overall health, the appearance of your skin and hair, and pretty much everything else about your health and well being, uses both.

I love to make a spinach leaf salad using organic baby spinach leaves, tuna chunks, a little bit of gorgonzola cheese crumbles, then a home made Italian dressing using Italian seasonings, garlic, virgin organic olive oil, and white vinegar and lemon juice. It’s delicious and  nutritious and I’m giving my body a huge dose of two things that are great for preventing breast cancer – dark leafy greens, fish and olive oil. You can’t beat that – and it tastes great and keeps me full for hours.
