Mom Kicked Off Plane for Breastfeeding

I almost couldn’t believe this headline when I read it.  I thought it was some sort of sensationalized headline that would really reveal a less shocking story when I actually read it, but it was really about a breastfeeding mother getting thrown off of a flight because she was breast feeding.

Here’s how the story goes, apparently Emily Gilette was kicked off of a Delta commuter flight when she was breastfeeding her infant, without a towel or blanket over her on the plane, and when a flight attendant offered her a blanket and she refused, she was led off of the plane.

Well, she is now suing (who can blame her – why should a woman’s bare breast offend people – come on it’s 2006!) the airline and the operator of the airline commuter flight basically for violating her rights and humiliating her.

Mothers came together at the airport the plane took off from in Vermont, and staged a protest, holding up signs saying “nurse-in” to get the point across that this mother should have been left alone to breast feed her child.  It is a woman’s right, and I think people just have to get over seeing a partially exposed breast.  It’s not anything we haven’t all seen before, right?
