Maidenform Smooth Bra, for No Lines
Well, I found a bra that I can actually live with, although as I’ve spoken of many times before, I’d love nothing more than for bras to go out of fashion – permanently, and take the way of the dodo bird, but I know that may not happen in my lifetime so I guess I just have to settle for the most comfy, unobtrusive bras I can find for now. And they are hard to find, that’s for sure!Â
I did happen to find one that I kinda like though at Kohl’s for about $24 recently though, called a Smooth Bra, by veteran bra and intimates maker Maidenform. The idea behind the “Smooth” bra by Maidenform is that it doesn’t show any lines when you wear a thinner shirt, say a cotton tshirt or some other thinner material where many times normal bras would show a line through them, and you can see the entire outline of the bra through the back of the shirt.
Maidenform even puts a sort of “before and after” picture of the bra on a woman who’s wearing a regular old bra in the before picture, and you can see the entire outline of the bra through her shirt, and in the after picture she is wearing the Smooth bra by Maidenform, and you can’t even tell she’s wearing a bra. They achieve this by making the straps and the back of the bra out of a very thin material that is almost as thin as paper at the ends somehow, yet feels like fabric.Â
Some of the Maidenform Smooth line even has plastic straps so as to further minimize the intrusiveness of the bra, and perhaps even to make it less transparent when wearing clothes that may have a thin see through fabric which requires either the same colored bra or no color at all – aka, clear. I don’t know about the clear plastic straps though, strictly a preference thing for me to have regular fabric on my shoulders!
The only thing I don’t like about the Maidenform Smooth bra I chose is the underwire, which can be a bit obtrusive, but as long as you adjust your shoulder straps to the right length, you shouldn’t have a problem with it coming up and over the breasts as often, or simply being annoying by just being there and being felt.Â
