Implants and the Ten Year Rule – How Flexible is It?
Ok, so if you’ve done any research on breast implants, or you’ve ever considered getting them, you’ve probably done a little reading on how long these suckers last in your body, right? Or..maybe not.
At least when I started doing research on breast implants, I had no idea that they were not guaranteed for or made to last a person’s entire lifetime. Gasp…You mean if I get implants and spend $5,000 or more to get them, I have to undergo a second surgery in an alotted amount of time and pay AGAIN? Jeez, it was hard enough for me to even fathom paying the FIVE GRAND once, let alone in another ten years when the price would probably be even higher due to inflation.
Now granted, the second and third and fourth and so on time around is supposed to be easier in terms of recovery time and invasiveness, since you technically already have a hollowed out cavity in your chest for the implant to go into, and they don’t have to slice into your skin again and make room for the thing, but even so I wasn’t liking that thought! Some doctors say that you can really probably get away with something more like twelve years rather than ten.
For example, if you are a twenty seven year old woman the doctor will tell you to get replacements by the time your about 40. So it is a little flexible. Just be aware that the more implants age, the flimsier and more likely to leek or rupture they become, so it is probably wise to not go too much further past ten to eleven years.
Otherwise you could possible be looking at tissue damage and other problems related to implant rupturing.
