Girl Has Breast Removed After Piercing

An eighteen year old girl in Crawfordsville IN thought she’d like to get her breasts pierced for her eighteenth birthday, and now, as a result of that piercing, she has suffered severe infection and now has to have her left breast surgically removed to avoid further infection and basic blood poisoning, or toxicity.

Doctors reportedly say that the infection caused there to be an entry point for bacteria, which bred and created a flesh eating bacteria which would have only advanced further if the girl’s breast was not removed.  Not only did she had to have her left breast removed, she also had to have some of the lymph nodes by her breasts and her collar bone removed to prevent a serious spread of infection.

The girl was reportedly a diabetic, and this notoriously makes people more easily infected, and allows infections to travel much more readily throughout the body.  The girl now will have to face massive breast reconstruction, which usually is only reserved for older women who have had breast cancer. This could be really rough for an eighteen year old.

She’s actually lucky to be alive, as doctors said when she arrived at the hospital nearly all of the flesh surrounding the breast was already “dead”, and she still has a long way to recovery.  She may need to have a breast implant as reconstruction comes along, or seek out breast implant alternatives.
