FDA Silicone Breast Implant Approval Cleared
Apparently some people were not happy with the FDA’s decision to conditionally approve the return of silicone breast implants on a trial basis.Â
Some felt the FDA was swayed by certain companies with a vested interest in the return of the silicone implants, but an advisory panel has cleared the FDA and its deciding authorities of any wrong doing or favoritism after an investigation of the matter.
The full investigation, which was performed by the panel’s Republican party staff, did actually come across some concerning informatio, but nothing that incriminated the Food and Drug Administration’s 2005 decision to allow the return of silicone breast implants on a limited basis, according to a 7 page summary of the investigation. The full investigation was not released, but we get the idea.
Women’s advocate groups were the culprit in the investigation after they voiced concerns that there were conflicting interests in the FDA’s decision to approve their return, and still cited health concerns over silicone used as breast implant material, citing several health issues that have been noted over the years from women who’ve had issues after having the implants in their body over time.Â
I do believe there was probably some sort of conflict of interest going on here – I mean, why else would this appeal for silicone have been approved fairly effortlessly after all the negative publicity? Also, where there is a lot of money involved, there’s a lot of “greasing of palms” going on if you know what I mean.Â
