I almost choked on my water when I read this headline. A 75 year old woman has chosen to get breast implants. And if ever a pair of breast implants would be newsworthy, I would say this would be the time. The first thing that struck me was how dangerous it is considered to have any kind of surgery when you get up into this age range.
I know that my grandparents that were in this age range dreaded surgery. They always thought that surgery was the beginning of the end, because when your body is already failing you (unless of course you are in great shape for your age), it’s tough to put it through the anesthesia and recuperation of a surgery.
Also at this age, you immunity can be a bit more supressed than it was when you were a young lass. This means that you can be more susceptible to infection and other nasties that can happen after breast augmentation surgery. But this 75 year old woman really wanted to to this for herself, and all the more power to her.
The sassy woman that got them basically said that she doesn’t feel as old as she is, and doesn’t look it, and she got tired of looking in the mirror nude and seeing sagging breasts. We all know that this happens to our breasts as we age and for other reasons as well like breast feeding.
It’s called gravity, and it certainly can be quite the wench to us in our old age. The woman ended up going for breast implants, in what is called a breast lift surgery. It is to lift the breasts back up to make them look perkier and more rounded without all the sagging that typically comes with the tissue density loss as we age.
The implant itself is needed to sort of push the breast tissue up, forward and up, so that it can be perkier and more lifted, as it was when we were younger. It’s not really so much to make the breasts larger, but more so to lift them back into the position they were in before.
Many seniors are now opting to get plastic surgery. With people aging at slower rates thanks to nutrition and exercise education and the awareness now that we have to do certain things to ourselves to keep father time at bay, this will probably start happening a lot more frequently as seniors who don’t want to look old go under the knife to preserve their youthful look.
