Breast Cancer and Vitamin D

Yet another new study on the prevention of breast cancer is yielding some sort of surprising evidence that a new vitamin may be added to the breast cancer arsenal against the spread of the deadly cancer.  It’s Vitamin D.

For some reason, and not to say that these findings are conclusive in any way, but mostly theoretical at this point, researchers have found that women with advanced breast cancer have much lower levels of this vitamin in their blood than women with just the  beginning signs of breast cancer.

Does this necessarily mean that vitamin D is some sort of cancer stopper when it comes to the growth and development of breast cancer cells?  Well, not necessarily, since a cause and effect in this case still has not been determined, but the study may point to more studies which get deeper into the source of why this is so.

Reasearchers are saying that after these findings, the vitamin that is commonly found in eggs, some veggies and is naturally absorbed and made by the body when it is exposed to sunlight, may be a supportive factor for women who have beginning stages of breast cancer if it can help them to fight the advance of the disease.

Some of the studies had demonstrated that Vitamin D may help speed the destruction of cancer cells while also stopping cancer cells from multiplying – or metastasising.  This may be a huge discovery, since as we all know, vitamin D is cheap!
