Triple Negative Breast Cancer Rare, Hard to Treat

Posted in Breast Cancer Prevention by Breast News Girl on the June 30th, 2008

There is a breast cancer that I wasn’t even aware existed, that is called a Triple Negative breast cancer, that is apparently and thankfully a rare form of the potentially deadly disease, but is also very hard to treat and deadly.  This invasive form of breast cancer only affects about 15 out of one hundred invasive breast cancer patients, but is very hard to find the right treatment for and is fairly resistent to otherwise successful breast cancer treatments (depending on the advancement of the disease of course).

There is another catch to triple negative breast cancer.  It also primarily affects african american women, usually younger than the usual demographic population that gets breast cancer.  Here’s what makes triple negative breast cancer different and harder to treat than normal breast cancer.

Women with triple negative do not have receptor sites for the three main hormones that fuel breast cancer, therefore a therapy that is often successful at treating normal breast cancer, which uses hormones, cannot be used in triple negative treatment because they lack those receptor sites to begin with and it would not be responsive to hormone therapy.

Therefore, these patients can only use chemotherapy, which narrows down the treatment options greatly and also narrows down the odds that this one trick pony approach to treating it will actually work to put the breast cancer in permanent remission.

Also, triple negative breast cancers tend to come out of remission fairly often, after a patient thinks they are out of the woods so to speak.  What makes this form especially heartbreaking is that it affects women in the prime of their life, and is so very hard to treat, making the odds go down that they will be able to live a healthy and happy life for the rest of what should be their naturally prosperous years.

New 3D Technology Allows Patients to “Preview” Implants

Posted in Implant News by Breast News Girl on the June 27th, 2008

An exciting development in the ever increasingly popular elective plastic surgery of breast augmentation has happened where patients can get  a highly detailed glimpse that is also very realistic, of what they would look like with certain sized breast implants. I actually saw a demonstration of the new 3D breast augmentation and implant simulator online and it is very realistic looking and does give different body types a detailed view, from side, front and other critical angles, of what they would look like depending on what cup size they choose.

Breast augmentation sugery is of course an unnatural surgical option to natural breast enhancement, but it nonetheless rages on in popularity because of our society’s preoccupation with the sexuality of breasts and of course every woman’s desire to have nice looking, well shaped and sized breasts to conform to this beauty standard.  Not saying I’m exempt, because I’m right in there too!  By the way, see our new Breast Actives review for one of the natural options to breast enhancing.

This new system allows plastic surgeons to digitally photograph a patient’s body and come up with a fully 3D image of the patient’s body from all angles.  It then allows the surgeon to go in, with the patient watching, and give them an almost exact preview of what they would look like depending on how big they went, or how small.

This means it can show you what you’d look like with a new pair of DD cup size breasts, versus a more realistic large C cup or modest C cup, and helps patients determine what looks best on them, and what look they are going for or what breast size they are most comfortable with.  The pictures show a detailed look at the lay of the breast implants, how they would look from a side view, a front view and other more angled views so that patient can make sure they’ll be happy with the outcome, as long as it looks how they say it’s going to from the pictures.

Breast Feeding Not Finding Much Hospital Support

Posted in Breasts in the News by Breast News Girl on the June 21st, 2008

Well, I’m not sure I agree with this, but some are rallying around a cause for increasing breast cancer support and awareness at hospitals, where they say the “support” for breast feeding is very low.  When I read on, what they meant by support, was that there is very little push in hospitals to get women to “see the light” that breast feeding their newborns is in fact the best way to go.

While I may agree personally with that sentiment, and it’s defeinitely the healthier and more economical way to go for many mothers, I don’t think that women should be made to feel pressured or guilty about breast feeding, or not breast feeding, their newborns.  It’s a personal choice that I don’t feel should be forced of pushed on women who have just had babies, especially in a day and age when it’s tough to breast feed when you’re running around, taking care of bills, having a full time job and doing a million other things.

I totally do agree however that education about how good breast feeding is for a baby and that there are numerous advantages to doing this is in order, it just seems to me like the agenda for this push is to almost put a slight pressure on women to “do the right thing”, when it is in fact a woman’s individual choice whether she can or wants to breast feed her baby.

I personally was not breast fed as an infant and feel I turned out pretty darn good, so maybe I’m a bit biased, but I’m honestly not on one side or the other, I just think it needs to be a right that a woman chooses, and should not be coerced into nor lead into if it is not something that she chooses.  Probably the best part of breast feeding is that it transfers the mother’s antibodies over to her infant, giving the child a boost in immunity right off the bat, which infants who are bottle fed do not get because they are getting formula that is not “biologically organic” if you want to look at it that way.

There really is no argument whether breast feeding is better for a baby, however, there are also plenty of healthy and very happy babies that are not breast fed and are bottle fed (me included), who are quite happy with that choice.  Before making this critical and very personal choice, it is probably best to decide by seeing what is most feasible for you and the baby, and also what you personally feel most comfortable with.  There’s also plenty of info online to help new moms determine what option is best for them, and even forums where new moms can share experiences, thoughts and feedback about breast feeding.

Audrina Patridge : Real or Fake Breasts?

Posted in Celebrity Breasts by Breast News Girl on the June 18th, 2008

Well, we don’t watch that “Hills” show that has swept the nation as a sensation and has celebrity bloggers blogging all about all of the show’s “characters” on it, one of them being Audrina Patridge.  By the way, I’ve never actually seen the show, but I know all about the people who are on it - sad!  I know that there are people named Heidi and her boyfriend Spencer, who are supposed to be the villains of the show and seem to love their fifteen minutes of MTV fame, then there’s the darling of the show, Lauren Conrad, and there’s also two other chicks named Whitney and I think Lo, but I’m not sure if they’re supposed to be “good” or “bad”.

Audrina Patridge has an interesting figure, because while she does not have porn star sized breasts, if you look at some of the more risque pictures that have come out from her, you can tell she’s had work done on her breasts because of the way they lay on the body and other atrributes that only silicone or saline filled breasts have.

Audrina’s got a cool, punk rocker sense of style, so you don’t often see her sporting low cut cleavage bearing tops, but she’s a smart girl, because sometimes tight clothing like that can really reveal, and in not so good a light, breasts that have been artificially enhanced via surgery.  The ones she chose are as close to natural breast enhancement as they get, from what I’ve seen, so I congratulate her on not going too far out on a limb and getting ridiculously large breast implants like some other young starlets do.

Actually, an example of going big would be good for another star on the Hills - the Heidi girl who is the villainess.  Hers, while they don’t look bad, do look obvious, especially since she loves flaunting her fairly new breast implants for the paparazzo a lot in tight bikinis or other revealing dresses and tops.  And that boyfriend of hers, I’ve never heard him open his mouth, but he’s annoying just to look at!

Breast gain plus switched over to a new and improved line of natural breast enhancement products, now called Breast Actives, and we’ve created a new page to talk about this new product.  It’s actually had the same herbal component for it’s oral supplement, but they’ve added a high quality cream as well with a “secret” ingredient of the Chinese that should help boost the bust enhancing, firming and lifting capabilities of the herbal supplement over a period of use.

So, for your reading pleasure, here is the new Breast Actives review page.

Cheap Breast Implants : Bad Idea

Posted in Implant News by Breast News Girl on the June 14th, 2008

There are so many women looking to get breast implants these days.  As one movie put it, about the beauty contest industry “jeez, these days they get them (breast implants) at birth!”, and that’s kind of the norm these days.  Now, if a woman has a nice chest, we assume automatically that she has had her breasts artificially enhanced via breast implants, and usually we would be right.  Of course, the poor women who happened to have a nice hourglass figure naturally is now under the microscope for having surgery, but it’s so accepted these days that no one bats an eye.

Natural breast enhancement has also taken off and has been found a useful way for women to enhance their bustline without the help of a surgeon’s knife, and that makes a lot of women happy because they still want to feel natural and have their own tissue there, they just want them bigger.

The disturbing trend toward cut rate, cheap breast augmentation though, is very alarming, especially since this is a relatively serious procedure.  It’s not minimally invasive since they are slicing the chest open and forcibly prying the pec muscles out of the way to insert the implant, and hence it’s kind of rough on the body.  Having a surgeon that offers cut rates may indicate that they take less time or care, and you really don’t want that when getting something as important and precious as your breasts done.

Not only that, you are going under anesthesia, and who knows what they will come out looking like if it’s a discount outfit that is trying to appeal to those that want implants but can’t afford the five grand they currently cost if you go to a reputable source for them.  Just be careful.  While there are some reputable surgeons with good outcomes that offer cheaper breast implants for breast enhancement, there are also some bad eggs.

Bone Loss Prevention Drug May Prevent Breast Cancer Spread

Posted in Breast Health by Breast News Girl on the June 11th, 2008

A drug commonly administered to breast cancer patients called Zometa may actually help breast cancer patients in more way than one.  There are suggestive studies that the women who take this drug may benefit from it inhibiting the spreading of the cancer to other parts and areas of the body.

The study that shows Zometa’s cancer inhibiting properties in breast cancer patients involved almost 2,000 patients who were in early stages of breast cancer and on hormone therapy.  The reason women on hormone therapy often experience bone loss is because the loss of estrogen and other vital hormones often leaves the bones in a weakened state, and the Zometa helped to keep the bones strong during hormone and other body weakening treatments.  The women who were on the bone loss prevention drug saw about a one third less chance that the cancer would spread or return.

The good news goes further though, because the bone loss drug which helps to make the bones stronger for women undergoing chemotherapy, since it tends to sap the body of vital minerals and can hence make the bones brittle and create bone loss, is that the drug not only prevents the spread of cancer in and to the bones, but also it works elsewhere in the body as a preventive measure against spread and recurrence, making it a very promising future inclusion in breast cancer treatment, and not, of course, for the sole purpose of preventing bone loss this time.

Oncologists say this finding may definitely alter the way breast cancer patients are treated.  Now, more good news.  Since Zometa has shown such great promise in preventing breast cancer spread to the bones and elsewhere, it is also currently being tested as a possible addition to other cancers which commonly migrate to the bones, prostate cancer (the male equivalent to female breast cancer, some might say, since it’s a “male cancer”), and kidney cancer.

Beautiful Breast Implants Part of the Scam for Rip Off Artist?

Posted in Breasts in the News by Breast News Girl on the June 8th, 2008

You may have seen the woman named Jocelyn Kirsch in the news lately.  She’s a big rip off artist who has ripped off a lot of identities to live the high life - complete with expensive vacations and it looks apparent, a nice pair of breast implants, from the bikini clad pictures of the pretty young 22 year old woman in the news.  Apparently her lawyer is pleading her case as a hopeless one, saying that the young beauty just can’t help herself - she has some sort of disorder that will make her rip off even her own family to live the life she wants to.

Is this mental illness or just extreme selfishness?  Hmm….I smell a George Carlin routine coming on about how we have to assign little personality traits now with the title of a new mental illness or disability, glossing over the simplicity of certain personality traits that just aren’t all that attractive according to the current set of morals and standard behaviors we’ve set for ourselves in our culture today.

Jocelyn wasn’t alone in her identity stealing efforts though.  She did it with her other half, a guy who looks pretty darn normal and good looking himself, named Edward Anderton.  To look at them, they look like a preppy, well to do young couple who also happens to be blessed with all American good looks, when in fact they relied on other’s hard work and earned money to finance their extravagent lifestyle for a year.  Even after caught, prosecutors say that Jocelyn kept the trend up by stealing and using an acquaintence’s credit card!

Wonder if she also got her breast implants courtesy of someone else, or if she paid for that herself?  Ah wait, her father is reportedly a plastic surgeon, so she may have had those before she stole identities of coworkers, friends and family.  What I don’t understand is that she sounds like she’s from a well to do family, and he’s a college graduate, so why not just work for your money?  But I guess criminal behavior never makes sense….

Pregnancy and Swelling Bosoms in the Media

Posted in Breasts in the News by Breast News Girl on the June 4th, 2008

It seems we have a lot of swelling bosoms in the news lately.  What with Angelina Jolie’s already ample bosoms being shown as very swollen with her recent pregnancy with twin girls, and Christina Aguilera popping up on a magazine cover showing off her post pregnancy body with still gigantic breasts (but we think she had a boob job way beforehand, so that’s partly owed to her extreme voloptuousness, to be fair), and quipping that she now has E cups thanks to her newborn, we are deluged with lots of sexy mamas in the news with great big burgeoning bosoms!

Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful things in the world, no matter what a lot of people may think.  Look at the glow some women get, and the fact that they know their bodies are being used for something very important gives pregnant moms a glow that nothing else can.  Also, the hormones that are cicrculating the fact that most women are on some seriously high powered vitamins makes the skin glow on some as well as the hair get really thick and shiny, adding to that gorgeous, glowing look that pregnancy can sometimes give.

Add to that the fact that most women will never have bigger, more feminine breasts than when they are pregnant, and you’ve got a recipe for pure, unadulterated femininity in the form of a mother to be.  Sometimes it makes you really proud to be a woman and makes you feel that you are part of a sisterhood in a way, that all of our bodies can change like that.

Of course, we all know that there are downsides to pregnancy also, but it seems to make women more proud to be women, to appreciate their bodies more, and to make them realize what’s really important in life, and not mind so much that their breasts may go back down to their regular size afterwards, or that they may need to seek some breast firming agents like natural breast enhancement options, but rather to focus on the creation of life they were a participant in.
