Lindsay Lohan, or as she is affectionately referred to by several gossip rags, LiLo, has had an interesting career over her small span of 21 years in the spotlight.  She began as a child actress, looking and acting sweetly innocent, and like so many other young Hollywood starlets, seemed to careen out of control from the fame and fortune, into drugs and trouble, and oh yeah, lots of drinking. 

There has even been speculation that Lindsay has run out of all that money she made in her few successful films - ahem, I think it was actually only that one, Mean Girls that was actually considered a financial success….

Anyways, Lindsay, in what some are calling another mistake in judgment, presumably to try to revive her seemingly stalled career, has posed for some New York magazine photos that emulate the final photographs taken of legendary Marilyn Monroe, which are nude photos of the actress covered by a very thin sheath of gauzy pink material that leaves little to the imagination. 

Lohan has always been known for her big boobs, especially since she seemed to sprout them pretty young in age.  Although she has lost quite a bit of weight since her younger days, she seems to have somehow miraculously kept all of her natural breast size, and doesn’t appear to have had any sort of breast enhancement, natural or otherwise done, so yep they’re still all natural. 

The Marilyn like photos have drawn plenty of criticism, especially since they were famous for being Monroe’s final photos before her drug overdose death just weeks after they were taken.  Some say it’s extremely distasteful considering Lohan’s own struggle with illicit drugs, and some say it’s just plain tasteless because it was Monroe’s last set of photos before her untimely demise. 

At any rate, I guess Lohan knows how to stay in the spotlight, even if her latest film is up for a record amount of Razzies awards!  Reportedly though, Lindsay was not paid for the topless photos, which is actually not too smart on her part, especially if she’s hurting for money (but you never know, that could just be a tabloid lie, what a shocker). 

Well, I figured I’d pay tribute to what I feel is the best sports bra I have owned thus far.  It’s not like it’s the biggest vote of confidence though, seeing how I try to avoid spending money on new sports bras for some reason, yet have no problem dropping ridiculous amounts of money on other things. 

I’ve come to the conclusion that I have an aversion to spending money on bras and underwear, maybe because they’re not really visible to the public eye, but only to myself and my boyfriend, neither of whom I’m usually trying to impress with their newness or stylish flare. 

So, when I tell you the brand of my favorite sports bra, you’re probably going to laugh or get a knowing smirk on your face, since it’s not exactly a brand that is equated with high quality.  It’s a Mudd sports bra.  That’s right, Mudd,the teeny bopper brand that’s big on trendy styles of the moment, but not so big on stylish lasting quality.  They also have an affinity for splashing their brand name on everything they make, which I don’t care for.

I’ve had this now worn out sports bra by Mudd for about 5 years now, and it’s starting to show the signs of wear and tear, especially since it is a white one, but nonetheless, it is the still the comfiest bra I own by far.  It’s soft, stretchy, and doesn’t make my breasts feel compressed or uncomfortable at all.  I can’t really wear it with thin tops, as it doesn’t provide protection against the visibility of hard nipples, but it’s great to wear with sweaters, for working out, and for ultra baggy tops that don’t require a whole lot of coverage or breast shaping. 

Well, this is certainly a little odd.  Not only is it tough to get a drug through approval with the Food and Drug Administration of the United States, but it is very unusual to get a drug approved which has not already gotten the vote “yes” from the advisory panel that the FDA usually uses as a sounding board, and usually follows the consensus. 

This time with the cancer drug Avastin, the FDA has approved it for the treatment of breast cancer tumors against the advisory panel consensus.

This has some people worried, but also has some rejoicing since the drug has indeed been proven to shrink breast cancer tumors, but also has been known to have severely toxic side effects.  This time, they said they were surprised that the FDA approved the drug on tumor shrinkage vs. overall survival rate on the drug, which apparently was less than positive since everyone seems surprised the tumor shrinkage was used over the survival rate. 

Avastin has been prescribed in the US as an “off label” breast cancer drug, and has gained approval in other countries.  It is the biggest seller for drug maker Genentech, with revenue in the billions.  I have to be honest, I didn’t even know that doctors here in the US could still prescribe drugs that were technically not FDA approved as “off lable”, so I guess I learned something today by reading this article. 

I also must say that while it is great news this drug shrinks breast cancer tumors, it seems unfortunate that the survival rate is not as impressive as it’s tumor shrinking abilities.  This, overall, is worrisome to me, but that is just my opinion. 

Well, it’s another season of the ridiculously addictive reality show (yeah, I’m not proud, and totally addicted again, after only 2 episodes) Big Brother, where contestants are put in a sequester house together for 3 months and eliminated based on competitions and strategizing against eachother.  And yet another season where most of the girls on the show happen to be sporting some larger bra sizes - a few of the girls in particular. 

One of the girls though, has an average sized bustline but a really great butt that almost any woman would admire, and certainly men do too.  Big Brother is notorious for putting lots of eye candy on the show for the men, but very little for the women, and what eye candy the women do get comes in the form of a guy who might be sort of cute, but as soon as he opens his mouth, gets crossed off the list real fast.

Maybe if you watch the show you know what I’m talking about. I saw that all of us female fans of the show band together and demand some guys with not only great pecs and abs, but also a little something called a personality without all the obvious, overblown ego that shuts us off as fast as a used car salesman might.

Of course this season should be interesting because everyone is coupled up with someone they scored high on a compatibility test on, of the opposite gender, or at least of a gender that the other would find sexually interesting, since there is one gay couple on the show as well.  We’re sure to see lots of slow motion girls running in the though, which is a trade mark of the Big Brother show, and my guess as to why the show appeals not only to women who find it as addictive as a bad soap opera, but also to the men that tune in three times a week to catch a peek at busty girls in bikinis.  Am I right, or am I right?

I know that most women differ widely on whether or not they experience sore breasts periodically, but most women I know have experienced it at some point for various reasons.  My most common reason, personally, is when I have PMS (pre menstrual syndrome), and the period about one week before my period comes, my boobs become huge and sore to the touch. 

Another reason for breast tenderness is commonly pregnancy.  This really goes hand in hand with PMS and tender breasts because the reason for both has to do with balooning hormones around these times when estrogen levels sort of are in a frenzy in the female body, causing the breasts to engorge with (supposedly) water weight. 

A reason that you really want to be cautious with is going to be when there is something that might be wrong with the breasts.  If you are experiencing breast tenderness and cannot correlate it to hormonal fluctuations in the body (the two most common being pregnancy and PMS), then you would want to contact your family practitioner and have them help you figure out what the reason may be. This is especially important if the breast pain feels like it is stabbing. 

If it’s not just a soreness, that may trip that alarms even more, but even if it is just tenderness with no correlated reason, you will want to get it checked out. With our breasts, it’s better safe than sorry, because early detection of breast cancer is the best defense against it.  Another sign of breast cancer, while we’re on the subject, is breast discharge.  This should immediately be reported to your practitioner so that tests can be done immediately. 

There’s a newer mammogram in town, and it’s going with the wave of the future by going digital.  Think of it as the difference between a digital camera and a camera that still uses good old rolls of film sort of.  The “old” way of doing mammograms is with traditional film, and the new way is to digitally snapshot the breast tissue and look for any areas that may be cancerous or at least may warrant a second look. 

Medical professionals are saying that digital mammograms may be a better choice for younger women, because it has been found that the digital way is better at picking up lumps and masses in younger women who have denser breast tissue to penetrate and find problem areas.  It’s not just limited to younger women, because some older women may also maintain their breast density beyond the traditional age for losing it, and they would also be better candidates for the digital type of mammogram. 

The cool thing about digital mammograms also is that, although they are more expensive to administer than traditional mammograms, they also have the perks of being able to be stored electronically and sent electronically, as well as enhanced and explored through a better technique, electronically of course. 

Although the digital format is much more costly, we all know that things that start off costly usually end up going lower in price, at least in the consumer world they do.  They really may be helpful for women with more dense breast tissue as well, since they may have had important things that could have been missed during a regular mammogram, and women with more dense breast tissue do get breast cancer more easily it has been found, so this benefits the higher risk segment of the female population to begin with. 

I did not see whether the newer digital imaging was available anywhere, but I would think it would be available in most larger metropolitan hospitals as a screening option by now, you just may have to be prepared to pay a little more out of pocket for this type of test.  In my opinion, if you are at higher risk, that money may be totally worth it. 

Well, you know that there can’t be a Super Bowl without at least one suggestive, slightly racy ad on, mostly having to do with cleavage, and aside from the suggestive ad with Wil Ferrell in it, saying “suck it” - referring, of course, to a delicious bottle of beer, not that other thing that’s on your mind (and the advertising people hope, is on everyone else’s as well). 

Well, the cleavage ad this time actually was a lot less racy than last year’s GoDaddy commercial with a big bosomed WWE star, and by that, we mean nothing was shown but the apparently more and more uptight FCC thought so.  This time, it was the always gorgeous Adriana Lima, hawking Victoria’s Secret wares (or would it be Wears?). 

In the commercial that was only aired once during the Super Bowl, or at least only once that I saw, Adriana has a small amount of cleavage showing at the top, really just a suggestive bit, of a black teddy and is making suggestive, sexy faces to the camera.  Of course, every guy was glued to the TV during this ad, waiting for some other big reveal to happen of course, but really it was mostly her most trademark feature that kept them mesmerized, not her breasts, but her eyes. 

Her all naturally enhanced breasts (by way of what looked like a slight push up bra, nothing major though) were actually barely visible, but rather tastefully suggested, actually a nice but sexy commercial.  Heck, she makes herself enticing even to many women!  No other good boob commercials this year that I saw.  Anyone else? 

I read the most interesting article about a newer alternative medicine type of device the other day which is supposed to help relieve muscle tension and headaches, and is supposedly wonderful for people who work desk jobs all day who get terrible headaches from staring at a computer, and also neck pain from sitting all day. It caught my attention because it was especially good for people who do have desk jobs and who experience muscle pain and headaches, all of which apply to me. 

It also of course caught my attention, because the device looks like a pair of red breasts.  It looks to be made of rubber from the picture, and it has a small place, that looks sort of like the cleavage, a furrow, where the back of the head goes.  It uses craciosacral pressure which is supposed to apply to pressure points that trigger muscle pain and headaches.  I guess it’s sort of a like a massage, but without the actual massaging, because you are supposed to rest your head in it for about ten minutes a couple times a day. 

The writer had tried it and reported that the device isn’t very soft, it’s actually quite hard, so I’m not sure that would be too comfortable!  Also, to use the thing several times a day seems like a bit of a stretch, especially when most people nowadays can barely find time to take out to exercise or cook good wholesome meals (myself included, I’m not harping, believe me), so how are they going to take a couple of ten minute interludes to just lay there. 

That part would drive me wonky personally, I’d feel like I was just wasting time.  The device, called the Still Point Inducer, sells pretty cheaply, and the writer who reviewed it said it did give her a slightly “tingly” feeling at the base of her skull after usage.  It’s $22 if you wanted to try it out for kicks.   

The Askmen Most Desirable woman contest, or I guess that’s what you’d call it, just came out with it’s results, and I must say that the lead lady in the running was an actress whom I can’t say I think is the most distinguished, but whom I also would say I’d like best to be my girlfriend.  She seems genuinely down to earth in real life, and that’s why I think she’s sort of more  of a “woman’s woman”.  It’s Katherine Heigl, the Grey’s Anatomy actress who usually plays quirky characters. 

Heigl isn’t just known for her role on Grey’s Anatomy, but also for acting in other roles, such as the more obscure “Roswell” show, which I found myself hopelessly addicted to way back when, and other smaller roles in movies, until her big breakthrough movie after Grey’s called Knocked Up in which she plays a likeable, albeit uptight woman who gets knocked up during a one night stand with a loveable loser played by another alum of Steve Carell movies.

Heigl is also known for having enormous, um, assets - and they’re all natural too.  Not just because she claims her breasts are real, but because they definitely are real by the looks of them!  I’m pleased to say that Katherine represents an excellent female image, with her curvaceous figure!
